Weekly Round-Up: Winter Wonderland, Christmas Decorations & New Camera
My post is a little late as this should have been posted yesterday but hey-ho.
Last week was a mixed bag of excitement and disappointment.
New Camera
The week started off with us going to pick up my new DSLR camera. I had been thinking about getting one for a while but I wasn’t sure if I could justify the cost. In the end, I decided that it was worthwhile and took the plunge. It means that I can compliment my blog with much better quality photos rather than relying on my phone camera all of the time. Since then, I’ve been like the paparazzi taking shots of anything and everything!
Christmas Decorations
Tuesday and Wednesday were fairly quiet and we spent it as a family completing some Christmas shopping and generally being lazy. I also decided to redecorate the tree as I thought it looked a bit rubbish. Although the tree is looking slightly better, I’m still not happy with it and a new tree is definitely on the cards for next year!
Our tree is full of special mementos and at first glance, visitors would probably think that it’s quite random. For example, we don’t have a well-groomed angel at the top of our tree. Instead, we have this little beauty (below), made from a toilet paper tube and a bauble. After both moving out of our parent’s house, we had to start from scratch with our Christmas decorations. Stupidly, we forgot to buy an angel for the top of the tree. Neither of us could be bothered to suffer the Christmas crowds to go and buy one so we improvised. Now, it has become a Christmas tradition.
Some of my other favourite decorations:-

The angel was bought when I was pregnant to represent Little One and the heart…well that’s self-explanatory.

This one was given to me by a friend and contains dried out flowers from my bridesmaid bouquet from her wedding. Such a great idea!

If you live North, you might remember the Santa bus which used to drive around town. Hubby insisted on making one and putting it on the tree.

The decoration is looking a bit worse for wear but our nephew made us this when he was younger.
Our decorating is not quite finished yet but it’s definitely more than we usually achieve at this time of year!
Also, we have our Christmas pottery back which Little One made a couple of weeks ago. I love them!
Winter Wonderland
On Thursday, we had bought tickets to a local Winter Wonderland and we were excited to be taking Little One. At £12 a ticket, we had high expectations. When we got there, we were extremely disappointed. You hear about people being ripped off at these sorts of things but this was organised by a well known establishment so it never crossed our minds.
Having been expecting some great Wonderland with masses of beautiful lights, we were surprised to find that the lights were repetitive. Furthermore, the quality was questionable and no different to the lights I’d find, for free, outside of somebody’s house. Once you’d seen the first few then you’d seen them all! I did manage to get some photos though. I’ve even left one uncropped so you can see the gorgeous, bright orange barrier in all it’s glory !

The majority of the lights were fairy lights on Christmas trees…

Notice how the barrier completes the lovely view (this was one of many)
…and that sums up Winter Wonderland.
As well as the lights, their Christmas huts consisted of 3 small huts which had one with Santa (not even worth a mention), one selling drinks and one selling pork sandwiches. So needless to say, we will not be attending next year!
This week I’m hoping to go and see ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’. If you didn’t know, I’m a huge Harry Potter geek so I’m hoping this lives up to the other movies! Other than this, I have a few other non-baby related things planned. Look at me having a social life without Little One! Ha!
Well, that’s it until next round up. I hope you all have a great week!

Love the ornament with the baby foot reindeer. Super cute.
It’s such a great keepsake ???? Thanks for reading
What lovely photos/decs x
Some gorgeous photos. I really want a DSLR camera. Have a hybrid currently but I’m still tempted by a DSLR.
I love my DSLR, although there is still a lot I need to learn about it. The only downside is I feel like a bit of a plonker walking around with a huge camera!
