Songmics Toy Storage Unit Review & Giveaway

by thenibecamemum

With Christmas around the corner, we have started our yearly clear out ready for the onslaught of toys that T is likely to receive! One problem with our current house is that, as a new build, it’s not particularly spacious. This means that we’ve got to be savvy in the way that we organise our rooms. We were given an opportunity to review the Songmics Toy Storage Unit and have found this to be the perfect solution.

The Songmics Toy Storage Unit is made up of 4 small boxes (20cm x 30cm), 2 large boxes (41cm x 30cm) and a fabric holder for books. It is extremely easy to assemble and we had it up within 15 minutes. The only thing we got a little confused about was how the fabric holder went onto the poles as we put it on upside down. Once we noticed our mistake, it was simple to rectify.

Once the unit was up, it was time to start filling.

One thing I like about the toy storage unit is that you can mix and match the way you place the boxes. The boxes are a good size so can be filled with lots of toys. As the boxes sits on an unit at an angle, they are accessible to T. This means he can choose his toys fuss free. Alternatively, the whole box can easily be removed and taken to another room.

Toy storage unit

The unit frame, which comes in beech and white, is also very child friendly. It is a great height for T to reach his books so he can happily choose his bedtime story (it’s also a good height to pull all the books off the shelf as T delightfully demonstrated!). On each side of the frame, there are handles to allow you to easily move the unit. Initially, I was a little worried about how the unit would stand the test of time as it was a little on the wobbly side but it has held up with all of the toys we’ve piled onto it. Plus, it has withstood the numerous times I have picked it up and moved it to different parts of the room. Therefore, I feel confident with its sturdiness.

Toy storage unit

My favourite part of the whole toy storage unit is the 3-tier bookshelf. Because of the sheer amount of books T has, we were in desperate need of more space. This part of the toy storage unit was ideal as it allowed us to fit lots of books into a compact space which was exactly what we needed.

The toy storage unit is also easy to clean with a wipeable frame. Also, the plastic boxes can be removed and thoroughly cleaned. There is also an anti-topple device so that the unit can be safely fastened to the wall.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m really happy with the product and I think that it’s a great price at £38.99 (price correct at time of going live). It’s definitely worth a look if, like me, you are struggling for space. Although it is a “toy” storage unit, there is no reason why you couldn’t use it in all other areas of the household (recycling, for example!).

My little one is the same! If he notices I’ve tidied, he’ll go around tipping everything back out again. Even though he has no intention of playing with it!
